God’s noisey and some more gorgeous
June 30th, 2008At the zoo the other day, it started to storm for 30 minutes or so. We found a covered table at the lunch shack and had our picnic while it downpoured and thundered and lighteninged all around us. The boys were not scared persay, but intimidated nonetheless. Having not thought it entirely through, when Chase asked 'What's that noise?', referring to the heart stopping thunder, I quickly reassured him it was just God making noise and Dan chimed in the animals needed a bath so God rained on them to get them clean. I didn't want to get into the whole electricity/humidity/heat thing with a three year old.
It has rained a lot in the last couple weeks and EVERY time it rains I am reminded how shiny the animals are going to be. It's the week before 4th of July so the lakes around us have fireworks each night. Last night, Cole was still awake when I went up to check on them at 10:30 or so. He whispered as softly as he could, 'Mom, God sure is making a lot of noise today.'
Equally as funny, completely separate subject, the boys love the movie 'Alvin and the Chipmunks'. Annie and I took them 6 months ago to a free showing at a 'moobie feeeater'. It was their 1st and only movie and they really liked it. Michelle got them a copy for their birthday and have watched 2 times a day since. In the movie, the chipmunks raid the cupboards and come across a Costco size jar of cheese balls. One of the chipmunks exclaims, 'Hello gorgeous!' upon seeing them. The boys love that for some reason. So we kid around all the time and say it with funny voices to each and everybody belly laughs…it's the little things!
Yesterday, at a picnic at church, they both eye the table with chips on it. 'Mom, I want some gorgeous! I want some gorgeous, PLEEEEEEEEEEZZZZE!' They spotted the packages of cheetos on the table. (They've never had cheetos at home and I can't remember a time they did anywhere else.)
